Essilor is a French company that produces ophthalmic lenses along with ophthalmic optical equipment. It is based in France. They are the inventors of the ground breaking 'Transitions' material that adapts to sunlight. They also produce a 'Vantage' lens that develops a polarising filter as the UV light becomes stronger.
